Sonoma and Napa County doctors are participating in a study of a new drug to potentially fight Alzheimer’s. Drug manufacturer Eli Lilly has been studying the use of donanemab and released their most recent results last month. It showed that those who took the drug slowed the decline of participants’ ability to think clearly and perform daily tasks by 36-percent compared to a placebo. A new study is now beginning which will examine how those without Alzheimer’s react to the drug. The Press Democrat reports that Sonoma County neurologist Dr. Allan Bernstein and Napa County’s Dr. Eric Grisby are now accepting participants for this trial. Dr. Bernstein is working out of Providence’s Cancer Center in Santa Rosa while Dr. Grisby is at his company in Napa, Neurovations.
