No New Sales Tax for Sebastopol Voters to Consider

Sebastopol residents will avoid paying another tax. In a split vote, the Sebastopol City Council has decided to reject a proposal for a one-fourth-percent sales tax measure. If the proposal was approved, voters would have had the final say in a special election this November. City officials proposed the tax to address a budget shortfall. The city had to dip into its reserves after facing a deficit of more than one-point-six-million dollars.
