Mendocino County authorities have a man in custody after he allegedly shot his neighbor to death. The shooting happened Wednesday night in Redwood Valley and was initially reported by the suspect, who called 911 on himself. The suspected shooter, 46-year-old Clinton Maxwell, says he opened fire after he found the other man trespassing on his property. He was detained without incident and remains behind bars on half-a-million dollars bail. Responding deputies then found the neighbor dead on a dirt road in a remote part of the property.
