Upgrades are coming to the Santa Rosa Veterans Memorial Building. The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors have approved a $3.5 million project to make the building more energy efficient and resilient to power outages and climate change. Upgrades will include a solar panel canopy in the parking lot, an energy storage system and microgrid, replacing the auditorium’s natural gas-powered heating system with electric heat pumps, and installing LED lights. The project will pay for itself by qualifying for nearly $600-thousand in incentives and generating more than $4.9 million in energy savings over the useful lifetime of the equipment.
