More DUI arrests were made in Petaluma during a special operation. Six officers were deployed last Friday night between 4 PM and 3 AM, specifically patrolling and looking for impaired drivers. Five arrests were made for DUI during their patrols. The Petaluma Police Department encourages people to plan ahead and either designate a sober driver, use ride share or call a taxi to avoid drinking and driving. Drivers caught driving impaired and charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 to $20,000 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.
