Sonoma County Considering Moving Its Emergency Homeless Shelter

Sonoma County’s emergency homeless shelter may be moving. The plan would see the 90 interim beds at the current site next to the county’s government campus in Santa Rosa eliminated in favor of 74 interim beds at an open lot off Russell Avenue, near the county jail. It would also remove 100 beds at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds and the Los Guilicos Village and replace them with 140 interim beds housed in permanent buildings at the Los Guilicos campus. This proposal will cost $3.1-million for the fiscal year. The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors are expected to vote on the plan today.
