Santa Rosa may be sacrificing parking for more housing. On Tuesday, the Santa Rosa City Council voted to move forward with negotiations with two development teams that would transform two large parking sites. A city-owned garage on Third Street and the former White House department store lot would be transformed into mixed-income housing. The developments would possibly also feature amenities like a grocery store. Property owners and business owners in Downtown Santa Rosa have a lawsuit in place, arguing they will be negatively impacted by the loss of parking options.
