Students can now get a bachelor’s degree at a community college in California. As enrollment dwindles, many of the 116 schools in the state are taking advantage of a new law that allows them to offer degrees that would lead to high-demand jobs. In 2021, a state bill was signed into law that allowed community colleges to offer specialized degrees. But those degrees cannot duplicate what is being offered at a Cal State or UC campus. The four-year colleges have complained that some of the degrees were too similar. But, some community colleges plan to add 30 new bachelor’s programs each year for the next few years.
