Several voiced their opinion over a proposed Koi Nation casino-resort near Windsor. An online public forum was hosted by the federal Bureau of Indian Affairs Wednesday night which had supporters and detractors of the proposed casino-resort. Vice Chairman of the Koi Nation, Dino Beltran, laid out their case for the casino-resort in order to give the tribe a financial lifeline that they need. Several members of the public, however, spoke against the plan, citing concerns with traffic, noise, crime, property values, and water. Even Greg Sarris, chairman of the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria, which owns Graton Resort and Casino, spoke against the plan, saying that the proposed site is too far from their original reservation in Lake County. The comment period for the casino-resort’s environmental assessment is set to end on October 27th.
