People in western Sonoma County could see smoke and flames today. Firefighters are conducting a 28-acre prescribed burn near Occidental from ten a.m. to six p.m. The burning will be done on the Ocean Song-Myers Preserve. The fire is designed to help a coastal prairie where coyote brush could overtake other plant life. Smoke may be visible in Occidental, Freestone and Bodega.
