A new FEMA grant is being awarded to the Santa Rosa Fire Department. The $7-million grant will go to bolstering the fire department, equipping them with the necessary resources to respond effectively to emergencies. Over $2-million of the grant will provide 12 additional firefighter-paramedics to staff two advanced life support squads during peak hours over the course of a three-year period. They will be housed at existing Santa Rosa fire department facilities and will respond to emergency medical calls for service and fire-related events to improve response times. During off-peak hours, the personnel from the squads will be assigned to four outlying fire stations.
