Sick Days in California Increased to at Least Five Sick Days Per Year

California workers are getting more guaranteed sick time at their jobs. Under a new bill recently signed into law by Governor Newsom, workers will receive a minimum of five paid sick days every year. That’s an increase from the current law of three paid sick days. The governor says the new law is needed because too many workers decide to come to work sick instead of staying home and taking care of themselves because they are too worried about losing pay for being sick. The new law goes into effect on January 1st of next year.
