Sebastopol Examines Budget Deficit Problem on Tuesday

Tomorrow, the Sebastopol City Council will consider a variety of different options in hopes of solving a financial dilemma. Sebastopol is facing a one-point-six-seven-million-dollar budget deficit. The city council recently turned down a proposal to pursue a sales tax ballot measure this year. The council’s budget committee instead put together several proposals to be reviewed during tomorrow’s meeting, and they all involve new taxes. There are 20 scenarios up for consideration, which feature different combinations of sales taxes, utility user taxes, increased hotel guest taxes, and parcel taxes.
