Water and sewer bills for Sebastopol might go up soon. A consultant has advised the Sebastopol City Council that it has to increase its water revenues by as much as 125-percent and its sewer revenues by as much as 175-percent. This is so the city can close a combined deficit of $3.2 million in its water and wastewater budgets, rebuild reserves, and finish planned capital improvement projects. The consultant presented three plans to fix the issues, and all required rate hikes. This has prompted the Sebastopol City Council to direct city staff to explore other ways to close the gap without raising rates too significantly. Currently, the residential rate is $49 a month for customers who pay every two months.
