Santa Rosa police have arrested two people for organized retail theft. On Wednesday, Dick’s Sporting Goods on Cleveland Avenue reported that someone stole more than $900 worth of merchandise before leaving the area in a waiting white Mercedes Benz. Officers were able to pull the vehicle over on Highway 101 into a parking lot of a hotel located on Corby Avenue. The driver, Michael Lyons, stayed in the vehicle but the passenger, Evan Thomas fled on foot, darting across Highway 101 to Santa Rosa Avenue before he was caught and detained by officers. Cops found stolen property from Dick’s Sporting Goods and other stores, as well as burglary tools inside the car. The Dick’s Sporting Goods team determined that Thomas was responsible for at least three other reported thefts from their business since July.
