CSU Faculty Union Approves Strike Amid Contract Talks

The union behind CSU faculty members is voting to authorize a strike. No official declaration of a strike has been set, but the group is one step closer to hitting the picket line. The California Faculty Association began contract negotiations with the California State University system by asking for a twelve-percent across-the-board raise, along with other demands, but negotiations stalled in August after the CSU administration countered with a five-percent raise. Things could escalate at the November 7th Board of Trustees meeting, set to be held at CSU Long Beach. CSU leaders say they are optimistic they can come to deal, like they have with five other employee unions.
