A Sonoma County Sheriff’s deputy who shot a migrant worker to death in July of 2022 will not be charged. On Tuesday, Sonoma County District Attorney Carla Rodriguez announced she will not file charges against Deputy Michael Dietrick. The shooting happened after a 45-minute foot chase through a rural part of the Knights Valley. Dietrick told investigators he shot the man three times because the man was reaching for a rock he could have thrown.
