A weekend of relief is coming to drivers trying to get around San Francisco. As the APEC summit wraps up today, freeway closures will be lifted tonight and city streets will reopen tomorrow. Some got caught in a traffic nightmare yesterday on the Bay Bridge and it had nothing to do with the summit. About 200 protesters blocked the westbound lanes, chaining themselves together in a call for a cease-fire in the Middle East. This left thousands stranded in their cars for nearly four hours. It also caused staffing shortages at UCSF hospitals and even delayed transplant organs for three patients. In the end, police cited and released 80 people.
