CHP to Release Holiday Enforcement Numbers as Petaluma Police Made 11 DUI Arrests Over Thanksgiving Weekend

California is about to find out how many people were caught driving drunk over the holiday. The CHP may release those numbers today after its maximum enforcement period ended at midnight. Officers fanned out across the state during what is considered one of the busiest and deadliest times on the road. Last year, they made more than one-thousand DUI arrests and handed out nearly nine-thousand tickets for speeding and not wearing a seatbelt.

Meanwhile, Petaluma police made 11 DUI arrests over the holiday weekend. They report that 6 of these DUI related arrests along with 25 other infraction citations were made the night before Thanksgiving. Because of the large bar crowds on the night before Thanksgiving, six officers held a DUI Saturation Patrol while six others patrolled downtown Petaluma. Most of those arrested over the long holiday weekend were from Sonoma County with a couple from Marin County, and one from Oakland.
