Get ready for a “super El Nino” season. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says peak El Nino conditions could hit California from December to February. El Nino describes warming ocean conditions that can influence weather, but isn’t itself a storm. The last El Niño of 2015-16 was a normal winter in Northern California and below normal in Southern California. If wetter conditions arrive, that will be welcomed by farmers, eager to see underground aquifers replenished after past droughts.
