Sonoma County’s Drug and Alcohol Treatment Contractor Now has Problems with County

Things are reaching a new low between Sonoma County and their only contractor for outpatient drug and alcohol treatment for low-income residents. Press Democrat reports that Center Point DAAC last month wrote a letter to the supervisors and Tina Rivera, director of Sonoma County’s Department of Health Services, saying they were immediately “suspending all admissions” to its outpatient treatment programs “in preparation for a shutdown of services.” The reason seems to be over funding and contracts. Rivera said that they would pay DAAC just under $340-thousand for the 2023-24 fiscal year. However, DAAC has spent over $745-thousand since the beginning of the fiscal year saying they were assured repeatedly by the county that they would be paid for its services. DAAC has since resumed admissions but only through tomorrow.
