Sebastopol has chosen a new mayor and vice mayor. The city council picked Diana Rich as Mayor after serving the last year as Vice-Mayor. Rich then nominated Stephen Zollman for Vice-Mayor who was confirmed. Council member Jill McLewis was the sole vote against either candidate. During the public comment period for the nominations, five Zoom callers, pretending to comment, disrupted proceedings with anti-Semitic and racist slurs. Hate speech made during virtual proceedings has been an issue for several public meetings across the North Bay this year including for the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors, trustees of Santa Rosa City Schools, and various city council meetings.
