Will the Transcendence Theatre Company perform at Jack London State Park in the summer of 2024? Unfortunately, we are no closer to an answer to that question. California State Parks is currently looking at the theater company’s environmental review in the park and has been doing so for the past 18 months. Transcendence executive director Brad Surosky tells the Press Democrat that California State Parks needs to publish the review soon or there won’t be a summer season and that will threaten the financial viability of the theater group. The parks, meanwhile, have said that they are waiting for the cultural impact portion of the review to be finished, which is being done by the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria. The review is required as part of a lawsuit with the association of state park rangers in 2019.
