Sonoma County Health Experts Urge You to Get Vaccinated for the Holidays

Local infectious disease experts are urging Sonoma County residents to get vaccinated against the flu, RSV and COVID-19 before Christmas, New Year’s and the other winter holidays. Doctor Gary Green, an infectious disease expert with Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital, says all three vaccines have been effective this year. Experts say it usually takes up to two weeks for vaccines to be effective, and Christmas is two weeks from today. Green also says the rate of positive flu tests at local Sutter facilities grew from five to eight percent last week. Test positivity for RSV is at 35 percent.
