A Minnesota man has been sentenced for the murder of his half-brother along the Mendocino County coast. This week, 41-year-old Mark David Schwinghammer was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison after reaching a plea agreement and pleading no contest to one count of murder. Schwinghammer killed Timothy Dalton Sweet in Westport in September of 2021. Sweet suffered a stab wound to his neck and was strangled. Deputies found his body partially submerged in water at the base of a rocky cliff near Westport. Schwinghammer was arrested for murder shortly afterwards.
