A community resource officer has been appointed to help address situations that arise on and near Sonoma Valley Unified School District campuses. Sonoma Police have tapped Ed Esponda for the position who has been with the department for four years. At last week’s Sonoma Valley Unified School District board of trustees meeting, Chief Brandon Cutting of the Sonoma Police Department noted Esponda’s previous experience working as an officer at Petaluma City Schools for seven years. Esponda will respond primarily to calls for service at Sonoma Valley and Creekside high schools as well as Adele Harrison and Altimira middle schools.
