There’s a settlement in California’s biggest single wildfire ever. PG&E will pay 45-million dollars for sparking flames that scorched almost a million acres in the summer of 2021. It happened when a tree fell and struck the utility’s conductors in Feather River Canyon. The fire raged for four months, destroying 700 homes and 600 other structures in Butte, Plumas, Lassen, Shasta and Tehama counties. It also nearly wiped out the town of Greenville. State regulators say the fine holds the company accountable for safely serving its customers.
