Celebrity Chef Duskie Estes is stepping down from a food-gleaning nonprofit in Healdsburg. Estes is resigning as executive director of Farm to Pantry largely due to a desire to assist her aging parents. She said it’s been an amazing four years, telling the Press Democrat, quote, “I have been so lucky to be at the helm of Farm to Pantry with gleaners that give of themselves for others they don’t even know.” During her time at the non-profit, Estes has helped Farm to Pantry expand from less than 100 to 1,200 annual gleanings and added 310 sites to their roster. One-point-six million pounds of food have been saved from going to waste in those four years.
