Man Dies Trying to Cross Highway 101 On Foot in Santa Rosa

A man crossing Highway 101 north of Airport Boulevard in north Santa Rosa was struck by a car and died from his injuries early Friday morning. Around 2:30 a.m., CHP officers and Sonoma County Fire District personnel responded to a report that a car had struck a pedestrian, according to CHP in a news release. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His information is not yet known, according to Officer David deRutte. According to the preliminary investigation, the driver collided with the pedestrian who was walking in the traffic lanes from the right side of the road toward the center median. The driver suffered minor injuries.
