The price of gas and electricity in the Golden State is projected to increase exponentially over the next few years and drivers may see a hike in the price per gallon as early as this spring. The California Air Resources Board released a key report that reveals proposed amendments to the state’s Low Carbon Fuel Standards that kick in this year, and may bring a potential increase of 37 cents per gallon. Drivers may see prices at five dollars a gallon by spring and they’ll just keep going up. By 2026, on average, Californians are projected to pay 52 cents more per gallon. And, from 2031 through 2046 the proposed amendments are projected to raise gas prices by one-15 a gallon. The amendments are aimed at encouraging gas and electric companies to find cleaner alternatives outside of fossil fuels.
