Democratic Congressman Adam Schiff will face Republican Steve Garvey in the race to fill the Senate seat previously held by the late Senator Dianne Feinstein. That means Democratic Representatives Katie Porter and Barbara Lee, who also ran for the seat, will be shut out of the general election. The two candidates who get the most votes advance to the general election regardless of party affiliation. Schiff rose to prominence as he led Donald Trump’s first impeachment trial.
