Santa Rosa City Councilman Chris Rogers is holding a slim lead in the race among Democrats for the District Two California State Assembly seat. Rogers has more than 19 percent of the vote. He leads California Democratic Party Chairman Rusty Hicks, who has more than 18 percent of the vote. Healdsburg Councilwoman Ariel Kelley is in third place with less than 15 percent of the vote. Seven candidates are running for the assembly seat, which represents parts of Sonoma, Humboldt, Trinity, Del Norte and Mendocino Counties. Rogers is leading all Democrats, but Republican Mike Greer, a Del Norte school board trustee, is leading all candidates with 28 percent of the vote. If the current results hold, Rogers and Greer will face off in the November general election.
