This winter’s rain storms are delaying California’s wildfire season. Wildfire season typically begins in June and runs through November, though fire season was a year-long event during the drought years. Meteorologists at the National Interagency Fire Center predict a milder-than-normal season that will begin in July or even early August. With the ground moist in most areas, plants are lush and green and less likely to dry out and become more flammable until the summer.
