Budget for Community Resource Officer in Sonoma Valley Set

A community resource officer will be coming to Sonoma Valley Schools. This week, Sonoma County Supervisors agreed that the county’s sheriff’s office will provide 25-percent of the funding for a community resource officer at Sonoma Valley Unified School District campuses and in unincorporated areas adjacent to Sonoma. The other 75-percent is coming from the city of Sonoma. The combined agreements will last through the 2024-25 fiscal year and will cost nearly $400-thousand dollars. Sonoma Police Chief Brandon Cutting said the officer or CRO will not be involved with school discipline and will have a different role than school resource officers.
