A group of parents want to recall the president of the Santa Rosa City Schools board. On Monday, the parents filed a notice of intent to recall Omar Medina, saying not enough progress has been made to address ongoing campus safety issues. It follows a rise in school violence during the past year plus, highlighted by the death of a Montgomery High School student who was stabbed during a classroom fight in March of 2023. Parents are demanding the return of full-time school resource officers to campuses, which Medina is against. Medina, who was elected six years ago, was part of an effort that eventually ended the district’s school resource officer program.
