Sonoma County developer Bill Gallaher has submitted plans for a large housing project in Santa Rosa while also taking aim at county Supervisors.
Last week, Gallaher Community Housing, a nonprofit, submitted plans to the county for a project that would build over 14-hundred affordable multi-family units on Brickway Boulevard, a few blocks east of the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport. The project spans just over 40 acres and would offer units ranging from one to three bedrooms, 10,000 square feet of commercial space and just over 19-hundred on-site parking spaces. This comes as a billboard calling out Supervisors on affordable housing was prominently displayed north of Golf Course Drive in Rohnert Park off northbound Highway 101 for the past three weeks. It read “Sonoma County Supervisors claim they want affordable housing. Will they act?” It also included a link to a website which pushes for lower building fees. The website is hosted by Gallaher Community Housing. Gallaher has been known to spend large amounts of money on various political campaigns including a failed recall effort on Sonoma County’s District Attorney Jill Ravitch and most recently, on an unsuccessful campaign to elect Ariel Kelly to the District 2 Assembly seat.
