Google is planning to reduce some user access to California news sites. The company announced Friday that it would remove links to California news sites from its search results for some users. This comes as Google continues to push back against a state bill that would make the company pay publishers. If signed into law, the California Journalism Preservation Act would make tech companies pay a “journalism usage fee” when they sell ads next to news content. Google claims the bill would impact its business model. The online search giant added that it’s “pausing further investments in the California news ecosystem.”
