Sonoma County Supervisors Ask for Report on Proposed Measure Regarding “Factory Farming”

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors is calling for a staff report on a controversial ballot measure that would outlaw so-called factory farming. The report will analyze possible impacts on finances, land use, agriculture and the county’s general plan. Last month, the county Registrar of Voters determined enough valid petition signatures had been collected for the proposal to qualify for the local ballot. The measure, if approved by voters, could outlaw the largest livestock and poultry farms in Sonoma County.
