A professor at Santa Rosa Junior College has been sentenced to 180 days in jail for having a gun on campus. Seventy-four-year-old Michael Kenneth Beyries was arrested last November, after at least two students reported seeing him with a semiautomatic pistol in the school’s Garcia Hall. A judge has approved jail alternatives for Beyries, meaning he may serve his jail term on work release or house arrest. After his sentence is up, he will spend another two years on probation.
