The son of a Santa Rosa City School Board Trustee is joining the board as a student representative. Sixteen-year-old Omé Zúñiga, son of trustee Alegría De La Cruz, was chosen in an election at Santa Rosa High School. Each of the district’s five high schools chooses the representative on a rotating annual basis. There are no regulations that consider this a conflict of interest. It is unknown if De La Cruz will run for reelection this November. The School Board is expected to confirm Zúñiga’s appointment next Wednesday night.
