
A set of COVID-19 subvariants is circulating in Sonoma County. The subvariants, known collectively as FLiRT, have been detected in local wastewater samples. Sonoma County has sequenced eight cases of the subvariants from wastewater samples collected between March 22nd and May 11th. FLiRT includes the predominant circulating subvariants of the strain JN.1 and the subvariants of Omicron. In Sonoma County, JN.1 has been the predominant variant, circulating at 21-percent between April 1st and Tuesday.
