Hundreds of people attended or took part in this year’s Sonoma County Pride Parade. The theme of Saturday’s parade down Fourth Street in Downtown Santa Rosa was “heroes, sheroes and queeroes.” The parade honored people who have championed LGBTQ+ rights for years, as well as young people who are working to defend and expand those rights. One of the so-called sheroes who rode in the parade was Zoe Dunning. The retired U.S. Navy commander came out as a lesbian in 1993 and fought against military exclusionary policies.
