Sonoma County’s avian flu emergency is officially over. On Tuesday, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors voted to end the emergency proclamation it first put in place in early December, after several deadly bird flu outbreaks at local poultry and egg farms. The county estimates the bird flu caused 20-million-dollars in business losses. In all, outbreaks were recorded at ten local sites, resulting in the deaths of about one-point-two-million birds. The last outbreak recorded in Sonoma County was on January 3rd.
