A Windsor attorney has been sentenced for taking money from a family trust he’d been managing. Michael Voorhees will serve nearly a year in jail plus three years of probation after reaching a plea agreement with prosecutors in April. Voorhees must surrender to jail by July 9th. Voorhees reportedly stole $550-thousand dollars from trusts he co-managed with Richard Holm, a real estate investor who died in May 2022. Holm’s family went to police after his death when they found something amiss in his bank statements. Voorhees’s attorney tells the Press Democrat that his client has paid restitution.
