Windsor Police Arrest Suspected Gang Member for Firearm Charges

A suspected gang member was arrested by Windsor police after a probation search turned up firearms. On Wednesday night, deputies conducted a probation search of 18-year-old Victor Avila’s house on the 700 block of Oak Park Street. Avila was arrested in March for a DUI and was released from custody on his recognizance with terms to submit to a warrantless search of persons, property, and house. During a search of his bedroom, deputies found two loaded firearms with high-capacity magazines, ammunition, and gang-related clothing. Deputies found a third Glock-style airsoft handgun in the living room of the house and seized it. Avila was arrested and charged on several counts including contempt of court, obstructing or resisting arrest, and unlawfully possessing a firearm.
