Southest Rohnert Park residents had to shelter in place on Thursday due to a gas leak. The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety issued an alert just before 10am asking those living in the W section to stay inside until further notice. PG&E crews turned off the gas about at 10:30 a.m., which allowed police to cancel the alert. PG&E and fire crews are assessing the situation where the leak started. The leak allegedly started after a private contractor hit the gas line with an excavator.
