California is sending the largest delegation to the Republican National Convention. State officials are also dispatching reinforcement.  Sixty-one California police officers are in the Midwest to help support the RNC in Milwaukee. The governor’s office says their duties could include traffic control, public safety and crowd management.  This deployment has been in place since May as part of the Emergency Management Assistance Compact.  Governor Gavin Newsom says 40 members of the California Highway Patrol and officers from police departments in Bakersfield, Fresno and Long Beach are in Wisconsin.  The governor says public safety transcends party lines.
