
A pedestrian is in critical condition after getting hit by a car near the SMART train tracks in Santa Rosa. Last Thursday night, a car was driving west on Hearn Avenue and approaching the SMART train tracks. The 33-year-old victim was seen attempting to cross Hearn Avenue when he was struck by the vehicle. The vehicle stopped for about a minute-and-a-half and then drove away without anyone getting out of the car. The victim suffered severe head trauma during the collision and was rushed by ambulance to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition. Police used security cameras to locate the vehicle and its owner, 19-year-old Alejandra Vasquez of Santa Rosa. She was arrested and charged with hit-and-run causing serious injury. Investigators do not believe Vasquez was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the collision.
