Nomination Period for Santa Rosa Councilman Chris Rogers’ Seat Extended Through Wednesday

The nomination period for running for a Santa Rosa City Council seat has been extended. According to the code, if an incumbent fails to return Candidate nomination papers by the deadline (last Friday) the nomination period will be extended. In this case, the period for nominating someone for 5th district city council seat has been extended until the end of business on Wednesday, August 14th. To be eligible to run for Santa Rosa City Council, prospective candidates must be U.S. citizens, 18 years of age or older on the election date, not in prison or on parole for a felony conviction, registered voters, and residents of the district within Santa Rosa where they seek office at the time nomination papers are issued. Voter registration information can be verified at the Sonoma County Voter Identification website.
Councilman Chris Rogers, who currently represents the 5th district, has not filed for re-election due to running for State Assembly in district two.
