The California Assembly has approved the California Generative AI Accountability Act to extend protections while encouraging innovation. The legislation, written by North Bay Senator Bill Dodd, will help state agencies make decisions about using, managing, and governing AI technologies. One key part of the bill requires agencies to tell people when they’re interacting with AI. It also encourages the state to invest in AI education and training. The bill is a follow-up to Senator Dodd’s previous legislation, which was the first AI-drafted state resolution in history.
